Festung Kufstein, Tirol - Event location with emotional cultural history

without comments

Kufstein - Austria - Tirol

Festung Kufstein is a very impressive place. Coming to Tyrol via Germany, especially when your airport is Munich, you see this building very soon after entering Tyrol. The fortress belonged to the bishops of Regensburg (Germany), the Bavarian Dukes and from 1504 to the Austrian Empire (yes, Austria was quite big in history), after Emperor Maximilian I conquered the city.

Today, it is a famous place for events of all kind. Some years ago a flexible fabric roof was installed at the large open air event place. No matter if rain or sunshine, Festung Kufstein is a nice place for public events. Lately it was a big public viewing zone during the European Soccer Championship 2008.
