Hey everyone, Ali LePere here! Have you ever been late to a gift registry, only to find the not so fun gifts remaining? I have! That’s why I love giving gift cards! Gift cards have the reputation for being impersonal, but I would rather give a gift card than diaper wipes any day! Keep reading to see how I personalized gift cards for both a mama-to-be and the baby!
Materials
Tombow MONO Adhesive Permanent Tombow Dual Brush Pen Scrapbook paper (2 pieces with different patterns) White cardstock (2 small pieces) Scissors Envelope Gift cards (one for baby and one for mama)
Step 1
I used the scissors to cut the scrapbook paper. I needed a piece of paper that would wrap most of the way around the gift card.
Step 2
I flipped the piece of paper over, pattern-side down, and set the gift card on it. Then I folded the top and bottom parts over the gift card. Next, I folded each corner of the left side of the paper toward the center. Then, I very gently folded the whole left side flap over the gift card.
Step 3
I used the scissors to cut along the gentle fold I made. Then, I folded the flap more heavily. Next, I used the MONO Adhesive Permanent to roll glue onto the triangle shapes on the flap. Then, I carefully pressed the flap down.
I followed the same process on the right side flap.
Because I knew the hand written note would cover up this part of the gift card wrapping, I didn’t bother cutting out a larger piece of paper. If it bothers you that there is a hole there, feel welcome to use more paper.
Step 4
I used the bullet end of Dual Brush Pen (N49) to write a note for the baby on one of the small pieces of white cardstock. Once the ink was dry, I used the MONO Adhesive Permanent on the back of the note. Then, I carefully placed the note onto the wrapped gift card.
I repeated these same steps with the second piece of scrapbook paper.
Step 5
Next, I used the brush side of the same Dual Brush Pen I used in Step 4 to address the front of the envelope. Then, I used the bullet end again to add details around the brush calligraphy.
Optional Step – Add Envelope Liner
I always add a liner to gift envelopes! I used the leftover scrapbook paper to make the liner for this envelope. If you want to learn how to make your own envelope liner, follow this Simple Envelope Liner Tutorial I made last year!
I used two pieces of paper instead of one in this gift card project, but the process is essentially the same.
Once the envelope liner was added, these gift cards were ready to be given!
