Create fun geometric home decor with a monogram letter for your wall
Below is the complete step-by-step tutorial.
I love it when I can find inspiration for my projects on other blogs. I recently found this totally awesome Geometric Painted Wall on Pinterest. It was done by Interiors by Kenz and is totally awesome! The blog is no longer available so I am sorry, but I can’t link to it.
These really cool 18-inch wood letters were at my local craft store, and remembering the wall, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with them..
I did a Washi Tape Monogram Letter for one of my other daughters several months ago and had been meaning to do some for my other two daughters that share a room.
The design above would look awesome on these big letters!

18-inch Wood Letters Pattern Paper Paper Trimmer Krylon Spray Paint Foam Brush Mod Podge Craft Knife
Here are the papers that I chose.
Monogram Letter Decor Tutorial:
This first step is the longest part of the process. Begin by cutting all the sheets into 1 1/2 inch squares.
Then cut all of the squares in half, this will turn them into triangles.
Whew! That was a lot of cutting!
Next, spray paint the edges of the letters. The tops will be covered with pattern paper, so we only need to focus on the edges.
With a foam brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto a small area of the wood letter. Then stick the triangles on.
Be careful not to use too much Mod Podge because then the paper will wrinkle before it is dry.
I found the easiest way was to go row by row.
Start on the bottom left of the letter and move up. When the paper triangles came to the middle where the letter went all the way across I did a couple of rows and then down the right side. I did this to keep my rows straight. I didn’t want to work on both sides and then have them not line up when they met in the middle.
Now the letter is completely covered in LOTS of little triangles. Isn’t that a cool geometric design?
Flip the letter over and with a craft knife trace around the letter and this will cut off all of the extra pieces.
It looks so awesome! But it’s not done yet.
To seal all of those triangles, apply a final layer of Mod Podge over the top. Let the first layer dry for about 30 minutes, then apply a second layer and let it dry.
The Mod Podge actually does a couple of things.
Acts as a glue and keeps all the pieces together so they won’t fall off over time and It gives it a nice shiny look so it looks more professionally made.
Since these letters were made for my two daughters, I didn’t want the wall to read “ME”. So I split it up by using an ampersand sign. We painted the ampersand with the same spray paint that was used along the edges of the wood letters so they would all match.
When everything was good and dry, the pieces were hung in my daughters’ room. I love how they turned out!
Here is a side view so you can see the pink edges. Aren’t they fun?

Our Crafting Essentials List: So many of our crafts use a Cricut Machine, this is by far, my favorite tool! And there are different machines to choose from to fit every budget. Sharp scissors are a must, and these Precision Edge Scissors are the best. Keep your supplies and projects organized with these Stackable Storage Baskets.
