3 New Ryobi 18V Hand Vacuums

Following through with their recent announcement to increase their 18V tool count are three new portable hand vacuums from Ryobi with a wet/dry hand vac, a performance hand vac, and budget friendly hand vacuum. All three are stated to launch Spring 2022 according to Ryobi.

Of course being hand vacuums, they all share the same overall design with a handle and battery holder near you and the motor in the center and waste container/intake nozzle at front. Traditionally these do not have the same level of performance as a larger vacuum but are good for light duty, spot pick ups for instance. Ryobi has updated their existing hand vacs with three new models for slightly different uses and price points. One of the downsides of the traditional hand vacuum design is the intake is on the waste container tip and because of the way these are held, the waste container is above the intake opening and we’re all familiar with a little thing called gravity which wants to make the waste come out the intake. Ryobi has done a couple of things to alleviate this to some degree. For example there is a flap on the inside of the intake which should in theory let waste in and keep out, though also in theory if it is open, things may go both ways. Another precaution appears to be a long internal tube which should help as the debris can go below and to the sides of the tube, though as you can see in two out of three models, there’s not too much area around the tube. We also have the motor pulling suction and spinning debris inside the canister which should also help keep the contents inside. Only actual testing and user feedback will tell us how well their design works in the real world to keep debris where it belongs, in the container. Now let’s move on to each individual model.

RYOBI™ 18V ONE+™ WET/DRY HAND VACUUM PCL702B $59.00

Possibly the coolest of them all and the most expensive of the bunch for sure is the Ryobi 18V wet dry hand vacuum. Just like its name suggests, it can suck up dry and wet messes, making it good for liquid spills and cheerios off the floor. The flat mouth opening helps keep good suction for picking up liquid messes and its long internal intake tube with ample room around it should keep liquid messes in its place. Ryobi claims this is the industry’s most powerful wet/dry hand vacuum although no suction rating numbers in CFM are disclosed and it has a dual filter system they say is easy to clean and maintain for best suction performance. It also comes with vacuum attachments including a crevice tool, a dust brush, and squeegee accessories – very cool! It also comes with an adaptor to use a wide selection of 1-1/4″ vac accessories. It’s priced at $59 as a baretool.

RYOBI™ 18V ONE+™ PERFORMANCE HAND VACUUM PCL704B $49.97

This model is their performance hand vacuum for dry goods only. Ryobi says this has twice more suction but compared to what? They do not say. Your guess is as good as mine. They also don’t list how strong its suction is in CFM, something that would be useful to compare with other vacuums. If you compare this and the wet dry model, they both appear have the same base, at least cosmetically. The front end is all different with an exposed filter design good for dry goods and a different container and intake. Ryobi includes a crevice tool and dust brush accessories along with a 1-7/16″ accessory adaptor. It will be priced at $49.97 as a baretool.

RYOBI™ 18V ONE+™ HAND VACUUM PCL705B $34.97

The Ryobi 18V hand vacuum PCL705B sits at the bottom of three new models and is a dry only vacuum. No claims of having twice the performance but they do say it has “powerful” suction and again no CFM suction rating to compare. Unlike the above two models, this is a completely different unit with different base and all but still has a similar shape as most hand vacuums do. This one is unique in one way in which the front intake has a tube that sticks out unlike the other two which have flat openings, not that it should make much of a difference but worth mentioning. It’s also the most affordable of the bunch at $34.97 as a baretool which makes for an easy impulse buy. Like the more expensive model, it has a dual filter system. Because of its lower price, it doesn’t include any extra accessories but the opening tube accepts 1-1/4″ accessories which are a dime a dozen.

  • Powerful suction cleans a variety of dry materials and surfaces
  • Easy to empty dust cup for quick debris disposal
  • Dual filter system allows users to easily clean and maintain their vacuum for optimal performance
  • Universal nozzle accepts 1-1/4″ accessories such as: dust brush, crevice tool, utility nozzle, and 2 ft. hose (kit sold separately)
  • Part of the RYOBI™ 18V ONE+™ System of over 260 Cordless Tools
  • 3-year manufacturer’s warranty
  • Includes: 18V Hand Vacuum, Replaceable Filter, and Operator’s Manuals
  • This hand vacuum will be available in tool only and various kit configurations exclusively at The Home Depot and HomeDepot.com
